Risk assessment

·      Broken glass cutting hands

We wear correct PPE. To prevent these risks from happening. To stop glass cuts wear a specific type of gloves that will protect your hand. And also it will stop the cuts from chisels and splinters. We are working to the health and safety act of 1974.



Method statement

We first got our PPE on, and then we made our way to the area of the window and looked at it and seen the window hinges are rusty. So we got the necessary tools and materials to do the window, then started to unscrew the hinges off and tack it off and put in a safe place. After tock hinges of both sides we attached new hinges that will not get rusty. So we had to make a little bigger place for it to sit flush and well and fitted back all in place and flush. We then checked if functioned properly then pack away (plus clearance).

We have inspected the window ironmongery on your window and we found that you hinges have rested and wood has expanded a little.

So we started to loosen the hinges form window frame and tack it off safely then swopped the rusted hinges and put in new ones they were a bit bigger so re chiseled.

Then screwed then hinges back in places and then started on the window to just tack 1mm off each side to le it easily swing again.

Then fitted back on hinges and screwed in place and tested the swing, after refitted also a new handle on door because it was stiff and then after we checked everything and then pack away (plus clearance).

We wear correct PPE. To prevent these risks from happening. To stop splinters getting in hand wear gloves so it will not get right in when handling wood. Then to prevent cuts from chisel hold well and keep away form hands. And we boots so that if you drop a tool your feet will be safe. We are working to the health and safety act of 1974.


Method statement

We first got our PPE on, and then we made our way to the area of the door lock and saw that the lock was broken and the area around split and making the lock loose. So we tock all out and strted to mark up were it will be for the new slot for it to sit in. After its all mark and correct we started to dril holes in with a machine flat bit and then chsile to make look good and fit easly. Then after marked were the holes for they handle and key hole will be drill it out each side half way and fixed all together. So that it will cose but we have to move the door fram plat up a little so it will lock and hold in place as well. We got the plate and moved and marked it corisponding to the lock and chisled and driled a bit so it locks well. Then  finished any last touches and packed away (plus clearance).

We have inspected door lock and the area around is all split and loose, so will replace with a new lock and hole.

So we will mark up were it shall be, it will be half way in then center of the door and then cut the are of the lock will fit in to.

After chiseled and made it to a nice fit and then make the area for a nice flush fit and chiseled it out a little.

Then marked were handle and keyhole will be and then assembled all together and then check for any other problems and then start to finish up and pack away (plus clearance).

Common defects to skirting board


·         Timber  exposed to high moisture content wet rod decay takes places.


·         Timber can easily break whilst fitting .

Risk assessment

·         Cutting hand or fingers whilst cutting wood


·         Breathing in dust wood particles whilst cutting the timber or wood 


·         Blindness when using nail gun



 To avoid these risks we have to wear the correct PPE ,we should wear gloves to prevent cuts and we should also wear googles to prevent our eyes from timber particles that come from cuts. A dust mask is also required when using the nail gun because of the air  it releases  .We are working with the Health and Safety act 1974




Method statement


We first wear our PPE on then ,we asess the area then we remove the defected skirting board. Installed the skirting board by measuring  the length required then when the part of skirting fit make a miter cut  on the end of a new bit and cut the bit on the end off to fit to skirting shape. We then easily nail the skirting board to the wall  using the nail gun and  all is fitted well to wall strongly and no gaps behind then pack away (plus clearances).

We wear correct PPE. To prevent these risks from happening. To stop cuts to hands wear gloves so any wood or splinters may not get in. Then to stop objects falling and hitting you must wear boots so that your feet will be protected. We are working to the health and safety act of 1974.




Method statement

We first got our PPE on, and then we made our way to the area of the door frame to see what has happened. Then we marked up a 45 degree angle on the frame and then ran a panel saw to cut it and when was cut we took it out of place. We took the highest point from the existing frame and transfered it on to the new frame we were cuttng. We cut it and then fixed back in place where it was originally and made it level as well. After we marked out where the original lock plate would be and finished any last touches and packed away (plus clearance).

We have inspected your door frame. It has got a split all the way down the middle and needs to be replaced.

So we will mark up a 45 degree angle and cut existing frame out and then cut a new piece to same size and replace old frame part.


We will then start to make wedges to put behind the frame to support and strengthen it before fixing it back into place.

We will check for any other problems and then start to finish up and pack away (plus clearance).
